Psylocke # 1

By Mark Rodriguez Psylocke has always been one of the more popular X-Men characters, especially back in the 90'. Betsy Braddock was a British mutant with psychic powers that had her mind switched with the Japanese assassin Kwannon. Now she had both psychic powers as well as cool ninja moves. I'm not completely up to date on Psylocke's history since the 90's though it sounds like Betsy did regain her original body. This also looks like her first official comic run, rather than her being part of a team. Let's check it out. The story opens in The Factory, in Alaska, where Cyclops, Quentin, Juggernaut, Magik and Temper wait for Psylocke to arrive so they can start their briefing. Quentin says Psylocke is half an hour late, which means they would have been done half an hour earlier so he can move on to other things. Pyslocke arrives and says she's late due to her flight from Palmdale was almost cancelled due to a blizzard. Quentin asks what she was doing in such a &

Street Fighter Masters- Lily

By Mark Rodriguez Street Fighter Masters are pretty much solo stories centered around one of the characters fro the classic fighting series. We've has issues devoted to Blanka, Chun Li, Cammy, Kimberly and others, and now it's Lily's turn. Lily is a member of the same tribe as T.Hawk so she uses similar attacks and also wind attacks. She also fights using clubs called pogamoggans, which have round stones attached. I'm sure getting clocked by one of those in the face would make for a bad guy. Let's see what awaits her in this issue. The issue opens with T. Hawk and Lily driving 30 Kilometers away from the Thunderfoot Settlement. Lily is excited about a new ceremony she will take part in. She asks if the entire village will be there or if it will a secret only for the elders. T. Hawk says this treasured heirloom will soon grace their new shrine and bestow its powers upon generations of the tribe. Lily is concerned since this power can be a boon to their people, but po

White Widow # 3

By Mark Rodriguez Yelena Belova moved to the small town of Idylhaven to get away from her life as a spy. However the town is under attack by a company called Armament that seems to be buying out properties and also hiring people in the area. The problem is, the people that refuse to sell are forced to do so with intimidation and actually sending out assassins after the owners. After Black Mamba and Diamondback were sent after Yelena to retrieve a cybernetic eye she found during an earlier altercation, Yelena decided she's had enough. She reveals to her friends and neighbors that she is the White Widow and she will go after Armament directly. Not long ago, the White Widow is dealing with She-Hulk, who is angry that she was sent to kill her. Yelena says she was sent to assassinate her, which sounds more impressive and only happens to important people. Jen's assistant Marguerite steps in to see her lifting up a bookcase with Yelena on top of it. Jen tells her that Yelena is tryin

Nicktoons TMNT episode 21- Karai's Vendetta

By Mark Rodriguez Originally written on Sunday, April 28, 2013. Keep in mind, these were our thoughts as they were back in 2013 when the show was new and was written shortly after seeing the episodes after their initial broadcast. At the time we had zero way of knowing what to expect. This episode bring up what I was afraid of since they started training April. An April VS Karai fight. However, it was done rather well and I'm glad with how they handled it. Several things went down the way I expect them to. Anyways, let's start the review. We start the episode with Shredder and Karai interrogating the captured Kraang. Seeing how the Kraang only let out screeches and such, Karai tells Shredder they can only talk once they're in their robot suits. They jam the little bugger into the robot suit Karai stole in an earlier episode, and Shredder demands to know why they're hunting the Turtles. The Kraang says they are protecting April O'Neil, the key to all their plans. Shr

By Mark Rodriguez Originally written on Saturday, April 13, 2013. Keep in mind, these were our thoughts as they were back in 2013 when the show was new and was written shortly after seeing the episodes after their initial broadcast. At the time we had zero way of knowing what to expect. The episode begins with the Turtles staking out the TCRI building. Don found out that the Kraang plan to bring a scouter ship from their portal, and they have to stop it. Suddenly Karai comes in and the Turtles start to fight her. Raph tells her they don't have to time to waste with her since they're trying to stop an alien invasion. Just then the scouter ship comes in and it starts blasting at the Turtles and Karai. The Turtles escape into the sewers and they find out that the ship can cloak itself. At Shredder's hideout, Karai tells her master about the alien invasion, but all he cares about is finding and destroying Splinter. He tells her about a new shipment of weapons coming in that wil

Batman (2024) # 154

By Mark Rodriguez Gotham is finally getting on the right track thanks to Bruce Wayne cleaning up the city with affordable housing and other projects. Edward Nygma is now legit and selling online security technology but Mayor Nakano keeps blocking him due to his past as the Riddler. A new hero arrives in Gotham named Commander Star but his methods seem a bit extreme as he's not above using guns. Later that night, Mayor Nakano was murdered. Also someone claiming to be Bruce's brother is trying to file a claim for his shares of Wayne Enterprises. What will happen next? "The Dying City Part Two" opens with Harvey Bullock and other officers investigating the crime scene. Bullock says they found no prints or video footage so far. There was so sign of forced entry and the neighbors questions so far were woken up by the gunshots. As the rest of the officers check around the building, Batman and Gordon show up. Jim asks if they found anything. Bullock wants to be careful to

Batman (2024) # 153

By Mark Rodriguez After the fight with Failsafe, Bruce set up a new house called the Pennyworth Estate, where all members of the Bat-Family are welcome to stay whenever they need to. Now that the Absolute Power tie-in is over, we start the first new adventure with this new status quo. "The Dying City Part One" opens with a family trying to find their way home on a late night. The father didn't want to use the parking lot because it was fifty bucks. Suddenly a stranger steps out from behind an alley telling them that they look lost. The man says they won't be finding their way home this way, which looks threatening... but then he gives the family proper directions to get to their destination. Batman watches this and sees the man means no harm. Jim Gordon is with him on the rooftop and says he can't remember the last time the city felt so calm. Batman warns what usually happens when there's calm, and Jim tells him to take the win for once. Jim says since Wayne
