TMNT Saturday Morning Adventures Continued # 13

By Mark Rodriguez Mr. Ogg has returned to cause trouble for the Turtles with the Ogg-A-Lympics, a best two-out-of-three contest. If the Turtles lose, Ogg will destroy them. After the Turtles defeated a dragon using dancing to entertain the crowd, Ogg's second challenge is to have the Turtles face other versions of themselves. Mirage Leo, IDW Jennika, 2012 Mikey, 2003 Donatello and Rise Raphael appear as their opponents. What will happen next? "The Good, The Bad, and the Ogg-ly (The Ogglympics Part 2)" opens with Mr. Ogg announcing the Turtles going up against themselves in front of a crowd. Raphael points out that there are five of the other Turtles and asks if they can get Mona Lisa to even the odds. Ogg says they should embrace being the underdog and the first team to get a KO wins. Leonardo points out that if the other Turtles are like them, they will work together. Ogg says if they don't put their all into this, they will be erased from existence. Leonardo tells...

Thundercats 2024 # 1

By Mark Rodriguez So this was officially the last comic I ever got to buy from Bent Wookee Comix before Third Eye Comics would become my new place to get further issues. This time going under the Dynamite label, let's check out their take on the classic 80's cartoon heroes.  The story opens with the Thundercats having to escape their home planet of Thundera after the Mu'Tants of Plun-Darr started their massacre. The Mu'Tants seeked their greatest treasure, the Eye of Thundera, and if they couldn't have it, no one could. Jaga would pilot them to a new world called Third Earth, but he would not live to see it. Lion-O is the leader of the Thundercats by birth right, but there was a problem. Lion-O was still a cub. During the journey, his stasis pod broke and he was exposed to the effects of space and time, now waking up as an adult. With Jaga gone, and Lion-O grown up, he must now lead the Thundercats to survive on Third Earth.  In current day, Lion-O is training blin...

Helen of Wyndhorn #1

Written by Ninja Jupi This is another comic that was included in the Fantasy/Sci-Fi batch I picked up when visiting the comic shop with Mark. I wasn’t sure what to expect when coming across this Dark Horse comic based on the cover. My mind jumped to an old-school mystery vibe in the vein of Agatha Christie, but not necessarily a murder mystery.  That aside, let’s get into it and see what we have in store. 😊 The story opens with an old lady being interviewed by either a writer or a journalist. The old woman is named Lilith Appleton. She is recounting her time when young working as a governess at the Wyndhorn estate, which have had odd happenings apparently. Lilith’s story takes place during 1935 - 1941, but the present-day portions is seemingly taking place in the mid-90s.  Going back to the past, we see a young Lilith being tasked with fetching the daughter of the recently deceased writer, C. K. Cole and bringing her back to her grandfather’s estate.  The daughter was su...

Forgotten Runes: Wizard’s Cult #1

Written by Ninja Jupi Back on May 11, Mark and I went to the local comic book shop. I picked up a special comic theme pack which consisted of works that fell under the Fantasy/Sci-fi genre. For May, due to Free Comic Book Day back on May 4, they were doing something special each week for the month. This was one of the comics found in this batch which is from Titan Comics. This story is about a guy named Crowley. He reminds me of a pirate, but this entire setting feels like it belongs in a pirate story or world. Anyway, Crowley, as the story opens, is shown staring out at the sea intently from atop a seaside cliff. You think he’s alone, but he has a snake companion on his shoulder responding back on his comments. They’re on a mission to take special cargo from a ship. The snake is going on about whether or not the mission was worth it and if they could trust the one to compensate them for their services. Crowley feels that they can, but the reptile is still skeptical. Next there is a fl...

Superior Spider-Man (2023) # 2

By Mark Rodriguez Back when Doc Ock was the Superior Spider-Man, he accidentally created a super villain he named Supernova and imprisoned her. Now she escaped and is after Peter Parker, thinking he was the same guy that locked her up. During the ordeal, Doc Ock learned that Spider-Man was Peter Parker and that brought back all the memories of him being the Superior Spider-Man! What will happen next? "Suit Up" opens in Midtown Manhattan as Anna Maria is trying to get a taxi cab to the fight scene. The driver says he took her as close as he can go since it's reported that Spider-Man is fighting a 'fire lady' in the area. Ann Maria says she's one of Spider-Man's friends and she has information on the woman he's fighting. The cabbie says she's crazy and tells her to get out of his cab. Anna Maria decides to head there by foot and hopes that Spider-Man can hold out. Spider-Man changed back into Peter Parker, hoping Supernova would give up and go away...

Batman (2024) # 147

By Mark Rodriguez Bruce Wayne was imprisoned by a robot he created named Failsafe that now has the downloaded personality of 'the better Batman' Zur-En-Arrh. As such Failsafe is now running around Gotham trying to convince everyone that he is Batman and is taking down criminals his way, as Damian joins him. Taking advantage of the sort of chaos that only Punchline could cause, Bruce escapes from Blackgate but finds himself completely alone and unable to contact anyone since Failsafe has access to every form of communication in the city. "Dark Prisons Part 3" opens with Failsafe scanning every electronic device in the city for all manner of crime. Damian, who was convinced that Failsafe is really Bruce, says they will fight it together as Batman and Robin, as father and son. Failsafe says crime is never-ending, but so is he. Elsewhere Vandal Savage is giving a speech concerning the crime in Gotham and the vigilantes that deem themselves above the law. He says now Bat...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Black White & Green # 1

By Mark Rodriguez So this is an interesting idea. This new series is a collection of short stories done by different artists and not necessarily taking place in the IDW continuity. Also these comics are black and white, but also green for an added twist and go along with the Ninja Turtle vibe. Let's take a look. "Green Screen" opens with Donatello trying to get into the federal database to locate every crime happening in the city. The rest of the group wants to go on patrol, but Donatello wants to stay behind and continue working. Splinter is worried that Donatello hasn't left the room for a while, but the Turtles decide to head out without him. Donatello feels he's more useful to his brothers staying behind and working on the computer.  Donatello suddenly loses contact with the Turtles as in unable to track them. Splinter arrives and tells him he will have to get his hands dirty and go search for them in person. Donatello agrees that right now his brothers need...
